Sanganer sits just outside Jaipur, and for centuries its printers have laid cotton flat and pressed it with hand-carved wooden blocks, motif by motif, until the whole length is done.

Hand block printed with natural dyes — slight irregularities in the print are the signature of the craft, not a defect.

This piece is pre-washed before it reaches you. From here, dry clean it or run a gentle machine cycle, washing separately in cold water with a mild detergent. Skip the soaking, wringing and tumble drying — dry it in the shade and touch it up with a warm iron.
